Mee Doodle has a bit of a shopping “issue” … She tends to think of it as therapy … She loves to include her child in these types of activities …
Mee Doodle really values her sleep … It’s how she keeps her youthful appearance … Oh, don’t worry! When she’s up, the baby has almost all her attention …
Mee Doodle is a single parent so sometime she get’s a bit overwhelmed … but who doesn’t, right? … this Doodle needs her “me time” … Her family lives mostly in the Dominican Republic and, well, they’re always there to lend a hand when she needs them and she never takes advantage of them …
So she’s a little absent-minded … that never killed anybody did it? She’s only forgotten to pick up the baby a few times … ok a little more than a few times, but she’s really working on it … She’s taking vitamins! Or at least she would be if she’d only remember to …
Before she realized she was pregnant, this was one big party Doodle! She spent most of her nights out w/ friends playing beer pong … She was well into her 6th month of pregnancy before she realized that her belly didn’t come from drinking all that beer and those Amaretto Sours … so Baybee Doodle was born w/ a bit of a “problem” … BUT … no worries! Mee Doodle’s got this under control …
When Mee Doodle was preggers, she kept having this really bad dream that she *gasp* had a boy!!! She would’ve been really disappointed … Well! thank goodness she got exactly the perfect baby for her …
Author’s note: Originally, these drawings were my Top 6 Reason’s Why I Shouldn’t Have a Baby back in 2003 … roughly 4 months or so before I actually became preggers: They were titled (from top): #6 – Heavy shopping addiction; #5 – Valued sleep way too much; #4 – Would keep trying to send baby away to DR every time she’d cry; #3 – Am completely absent-minded and forgetful; #2 – Partied too much and might give birth to alcoholic child; and #1 – Would be incredibly disappointed if baby was born male …
Ironically, I ended up having a boy! and yes I was primarily disappointed but am ever so happy to have had my baby boy … He’s the love of my life! Another couple of fun facts: I used actual last names of my co-workers (at the time) as the “mother’s” of the other babies in the nursery in the last picture … the picture above the couch in drawing #3 (shipping baby to DR) is based on an actual picture I took of a lighthouse by the pier close to where I live …
